Week 4: The 21st Century Classroom Level 2 Online PD

Greetings everyone,

As we move into week 4, we will begin merging frameworks and strategies from the course to create two lesson plans. Here are this week's reminders:

  1. Transformative Lesson Plan: Choose a lesson that you plan to teach around early/mid-November and transform it with technology integrations that allow students to demonstrate the 4 C's and student-centered learning. Also, refer to the Transformative Learning slides for tech integration ideas using the SAMR framework. To be considered transformative, the tasks must reach modification/redefinition levels of the SAMR Model. https://goo.gl/aoJ9ga

  2. Review additional Transformative Lesson Plan using SAMR resources

    1. SAMR Rubric:https://goo.gl/Zy71SH

    2. SAMR as a Framework for Education 3.0: https://goo.gl/PrNACa

    3. 8 Examples of SAMR: https://goo.gl/k4LYSA

    4. More SAMR Examples: https://goo.gl/96qar5

  3. You will give and receive peer feedback on the transformative lessons you created. Find your peer review partner here: https://goo.gl/2aS9Jc

  4. Digital Citizenship Lesson Plan:  Create a Digital Citizenship Lesson Plan that you implemented with your students as a result of this professional development course. You do not have to integrate technology into the digital citizenship lesson plan. You can use resources from Common Sense Media Scope and Sequence: https://goo.gl/5szmZs

Week 3: The 21st Century Classroom Level 2 Online PD

Hello Learners,

In this week's learning, we focus on integrating technology to promote critical thinking and creativity. The lesson's slides present various ways to use technology in the classroom and transform the lessons through the empowerment of students voice to promote student-centered learning. We are introduced to the SAMR framework. Substitute, Augmentation, Modification, Redefinition (SAMR) is a model developed by Dr. Ruben Puentedura to supports and enables teachers to design, develop, and infuse digital learning experiences that utilize technology. In this course, we use SAMR framework to evaluate the technology integration in the Transformative Lesson. In addition to transformative learning, internet safety and digital citizenship are essential in building healthy and safe online communities. As you explore this week's resources, keep in mind that as part of the course requirements you will need to plan and implement 1) a transformative lesson plan and 2) an internet safety/digital citizenship lesson plan.  Here are this week's reminders:

  1. Review the Transformative Learning: Creativity & Critical Thinking slides. Do a deeper exploration of at least 2 of the tools from the presentation. https://goo.gl/aoJ9ga

  2. Complete the "Transformative Learning: Critical Thinking and Creativity " page of your portfolio

  3. Review the Internet Safety & Digital Citizenship presentation: https://goo.gl/qcZRHM

  6. Complete the "Internet Safety & Digital Citizenship" page of your portfolio
